As directed by Department of Empowerment of Person with Disabilities (DEPwD) in the month of October 2019, the institute began to plan the centre by immediately allocating a suitable area in the ground floor with separate entrance. Cross Disability Early Intervention Centre is a dedicated centre created purely for the paediatric population aged 0-6years at NILD Kolkata along with 13 other centre in different parts of the country. The aim is to provide a cross disability, composite multifunctional facility for therapeutic interventions to help reduce the disability burden and also counsel the parents under one roof. It is also to prepare the children for school readiness which is crucial for inclusive education.
An approximate area of 2402 sq ft has been allocated on the ground floor for the centre. It includes renovation of existing 06-rooms, 02- toilets along with 12 feet corridor passage. Mr. Jeetendra Mohapatra, Lecturer Occupational Therapy was appointed as Nodal Officer to establish the center.
08 nos. of manpower specially recruited for EIC that includes 01 OT, 01 PT, 01 Speech language Therapist, 01 Clinical psychologist, 01 special educator (HI), 01 special educator (ID), 01 Clerk and 01 housekeeping. Total 170 nos. of equipment, furniture and toys were identified and procured in setting-up the centre.
