    Department of Rehabilitation Nursing

    The department of Rehabilitation Nursing Service includes a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services and continuing care for patients who experience debilitating illness or injury. Patients with complains of congenital deformities, fractures, amputations, multiple trauma or injuries and other musculoskeletal deformities are admitted for surgeries and post operative rehabilitation services.

    The department of Rehabilitation Nursing Service includes a comprehensive range of indoor services and continuing care for patients who experience debilitating illness.
    The services were provided through following units:-
    Rehabilitation Ward – 29 beds
    Restorative Surgical Unit – 21 Beds

    The goal of the Rehabilitation Nursing Service unit is to assist individuals with a disability and/ or chronic illness to attain and maintain maximum function. The Rehabilitation staff nurses assist patients to adapt physically and emotionally to the lifestyle changes and provide care that helps to restore and maintain function and prevent complications. Also the nursing staff extends their services to Operation Theater in assisting all minor and major surgeries.

    The department coordinates nursing care activities in collaboration with interdisciplinary rehabilitation team for the achievement of overall goals.

    In addition to documentation of indoor statistics and patient file the department maintains all records and reports of indoor patients. First hand care on handling of persons with disabilities is given to St. John’s ambulance association trainees in batches.

    Students from various discipline such as Nursing, Physiotherapy and Special Education visits the department as a part of their curriculum requirements.

    DEPARTMENT OF REHABILITATION NURSING

    Nursing care is an integral part in the process of rehabilitation. Department of Rehabilitation Nursing provides specialized, comprehensive and compassionate life care to patients with disabilities, chronic conditions, or injuries, aimed at improving their functional abilities and overall quality of life.
    The department works with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians,physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and social workers, to develop personalized rehabilitation plans for patients. The focus is on restoring function, promoting self-care skills, and educating both patients and their families about managing long-term health conditions or adjusting to new limitation.
    The activities of the department are brought under three units i.e. Service, Academic & Research.

    ACADEMIC ACTIVITY

    The college of Nursing, NILD, Kolkata is one of the leading institutions in India for nursing education has started from 2011. The college is approved by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC), affiliated to West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), Kolkata. The program was started with the intake capacity of ten (10) students. The course’s duration is two-year session and every year university exam is held as Part-I and Part –II exam. The aim of this college of Nursing is to provide Accessible, Affordable High-quality education to diverse student for development of Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Nurse Practitioner at all entries of practice. It also fosters professional growth, up gradation and encourages positive moral values through teaching learning process.

    Department of Rehabilitation Nursing (Academic) has three folded activities as
    follows:
    1. Long term academic course — M.Sc. Nursing in Medical-Surgical Nursing
    Speciality.
    2. Short term training program (Educational visit/ orientation program)

    Continuing Nursing Education program/ Workshop).

      • Educational visit for diploma/ degree and PG nursing students from different nursing schools/ colleges
