Executive Council
The Executive Council is the principal executive body of the Institute, responsible for the operational and strategic management of its affairs. It ensures that the objectives of the Institute are fulfilled in accordance with its governing documents, including the Memorandum of Association, rules, and by-laws. The EC functions as a decision-making entity and holds the authority necessary for efficient governance, subject to the overall supervision of the Governing Council.
Key Functions and Powers of the Executive Council:
1. Policy Formation:
The EC has the power to establish broad policies to achieve the objectives of the Institute.
2. Budget Review and Approval:
It is the responsibility of the EC to review, modify, and sanction the budget estimates of the Institute.
3. Financial Oversight:
The EC is authorized to sanction expenditures as per the financial by-laws of the Institute.
4. Investment Management:
The Council has the authority to manage and invest the Institute’s funds.
5. Borrowing Authority:
The EC is empowered to borrow funds on terms and conditions it deems appropriate.
6. Staffing and Recruitment:
The Executive Council holds the power to create new posts and oversee the recruitment and appointment of staff.
