Department of Prosthetics & Orthotics

Department of P&O involved in major functions like human resource development in both undergraduate and post graduate program and to provide customized aids and appliances and other assistive devices to persons with loco motor disabilities through both Institutional based services and outreach services under ADIP Scheme, Govt. of India. Institutional direct service includes detail assessment and fabrication of customized prosthetic and orthotic devices to indoor and outdoor patients. The department is equipped with number of advance machineries like Hot Air Thermoplastic oven, low temperature thermoplastic Hot water pan, Router cum dust collector, other imported Router cum dust collector, grinding machine with dust collector, adjustable drilling machine, shearing belt grinder, Air Compressor and various hand tools. During Covid-19 pandemic, appropriate care measures were taken in the department/workshop as per Covid-guideline. Sanitization and cleaning was done in every devices and machineries after use. Room was properly cleaned. Social distancing was employed within technical area (2meters). Proper PPE gear was worn by the staff during patient service. Prosthetics & Orthotics devices were cleaned before being handed over to the patient and/or staff. Any P & O aids & Appliances which needed to be repaired had been properly cleaned before beginning of work. Every patient’s visit was kept short.
