The Governing Council (GC) of NILD is the apex body responsible for overseeing the strategic governance, policy direction, and functioning of the institute. It typically includes representatives from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, experts in the field of locomotor disabilities, and other stakeholders. They would provide high-level guidance, approve major policies, ensure compliance with the institute’s functioning and ensures that its goals align with the national objectives for disability empowerment, and make key decisions on issues like budgeting, research focus, and the overall direction of the institute.
